On the company website, it states that consumers will not be charged for a second driver if the second driver is a spouse or domestic partner. My domestic partner of eight years and I both showed our driver's licenses to the agent to verify that we were domestic partners living at the same address.
I reminded her that it stated that in the reservation.
She acted very rudely and said no, that was not correct. She then charged me $15 a day for my domestic partner to be added to the rental car as a second driver.

When making the reservation, it clearly says that spouses or domestic partners are not charged a fee to be a second driver on the car. When I went to pick up the rental and showed the agent that my domestic partner of eight years, and I lived at the same address,as evidence on our drivers license, she said it would be $15 a day to add him.
I circled the part on where I was making the reservation to show them what they were advertising. They said that was not correct.

It's been over a month and they have not refunded for 1 day returned earlier. I called 4 times and each representative has a different story on why the refund was not processed.
One lady representative just casually apologized and hung up while I was explaining. Very bad customer service.

It was a month of worry and hassle. We will never rent from them again.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. My phone was finally sent back to me.
This situation has nothing to do with the service or quality at Alamo.
That was fine. Just a tough time getting my phone back.
I was promised days ago that someone would get back to me about my cell phone that I left there on Sunday, 11/10. Four reports have been sent to you through your main office. I spoke to your customer service manager, Katie, who said he would send it out to me. He said he would send a text to get my address at the number I provided him.
However, I never received a text, so I sent him my information to the phone number I initially spoke to him on, but it has not been tagged as read. I tried calling him again yesterday, 10/14. The first time it hung up after I was on hold for 20 minutes. The second time, I finally gave up after being on hold for an hour.
Will someone please help me with this situation? Let me know what I can do to get my phone back. Please contact me via email or my husband's cellphone.

Canceled my car the day before arrival
Beware of Alamo Rental Car at Waverley Station - Terrible Customer Service!
I had an absolutely dreadful experience with Alamo at Waverley Station in Edinburgh. I booked a car well in advance for a trip I had meticulously planned, only to receive a cancellation the day before my arrival.
No explanation, no attempt to offer alternativesjust a flat-out cancellation that left me scrambling to find a replacement at the last minute.
To make matters worse, when I tried to resolve the issue and expressed my frustration, the staff had the audacity to laugh at me. Their dismissive and unprofessional attitude added insult to injury, showing zero regard for the stress and inconvenience their actions caused.
Travelers, be warned: if youre relying on Alamo for your transportation in Edinburgh, dont. Their lack of reliability and respect for customers could completely derail your plans.
There are plenty of other rental car companies that wont treat you this poorlychoose one of them instead. Save yourself the stress, disappointment, and outright rudeness

Alamo charging us for repairs for "off road driving". What parent in their right mind with two very young kids go off roading.
Our car broken down and we consulted a mechanic that came by and looked at the car without performing any work on it and found it to be a blown fuse as the car didn't start.
Alamo sent us a type truck and took the car and weeks later sent us a bill holding us responsible. The letter stated we went off roading since they found dirt. I told them I'd be more than happy to share my Google location during the time of rental because we had traveled out of state to an event and only drove from point A to point B.
They filed the claim with our insurance and insisted on paying the deductible. We humbly asked them to review tapes from the day of rental to confirm dirt in the wheel well because we certainly did see it but made nothing of it since it drove fine and now they're threatening us to pay the balance

We reserved a car in the UK at Glasgow Airport via booking.com. It was paid and confirmed.
But when we arrived at the Alamo counter, the representative ran an 'address check' on my UK driver's license, said that it 'does not go through', and refused to give me a car. We asked her to check my wife's driver's license, and she said that 'it did not go through either'. We called for the manager, but he said he cannot do anything. Our driver's license address is the house we own, where we've lived for the last 13 years, and we've never had any issue with any checks before.
Note also that our DVLA check went through with no problem, and Alamo's terms and conditions do not mention any additional checks.
We were forced to turn to another company (SIXT) across the hall. They had no issue with our driver's license addresses, checks, etc., and gave us a car, but we had to pay twice as much.
Preferred solution: Apology

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. gave us an additional partial refund, but they also stated to my wife that the Norfolk manager would call us as well and apologize but that did not happen.
Offered us a base model Audi suv that did not have working carplay navigation. We bought that back and had to settle for a dodge durango trucklike vehicle. Two calls to Alamo customer service 10/17/24 and 10/18/24 where we were promised management at Alamo would call us right back and make it right. As of 10/20/24 have heard nothing.
This is bait and switch. The ground level customer service reps did their best but they did not have the inventory to work with,

Did not get the quality of car promised . Add stated Mercedes e class or bmw 5 or similar.
I own a Mercedes glc 300 which is a less car than the e class and ended up with a dodge durango. Not happy.

Unsafe passenger van
I rented a 12-person van from the Las Vegas airport branch. From the beginning, the experience was bad with the attendant in the garage. The agent first said there were a couple of vans we could choose from when we got to the parking garage. However, when we met up with the garage attendant, she said, 'Nope, there's only one van.' It was an older GMC van, and without handing the keys, she just pointed at the van, assuming the keys were in it. So, we had to ask another attendant for the keys. She laughed and said, 'Oh, let me get them for you.' What service, I thought!
Then, when driving to California, the rear passenger seat belt did not extend to buckle, so one of my passengers was without a seat belt. Furthermore, when we started driving to our destination, it started to pull to the right and at speeds above 60 mph, it started to shake a little. This is very unsafe. I assumed they would check the vehicle for any safety issues and not just to see if the gas tank was full or for dents and scratches on the van. At least before handing the vehicle to the next group of customers, it should be safe for them to drive.
This experience has been very stressful. Upon reaching our destination, we called Alamo to see if we could exchange the van for a safer one. We called customer service and explained our situation. They directed us to a location to exchange it without checking the system to see if another van was available. The attendant said there was another van available at a different location and that they would reserve it for us until we arrived. We got to the location, and they had no record or reserved van at their location. At this point, we had already spent 3 hours driving around.
We called Alamo customer service again to explain the situation. They apologized, said they would escalate the situation, and told us to wait for a call from the escalation department. We waited for an hour and a half, but the call never came. We called customer service again, and they told us to drive back to where we were staying. They said they would send a tow truck and a replacement van.
After calling over 10 times and still waiting for one of the 10 customer service associates to call me back, this entire vacation has become a headache. I probably have to drive back with this unsafe van with my whole family in it. Thanks, Alamo, for doing your due diligence and keeping families safe on the road. I will never rent from this circus of a rental company again.
It's 2:28 PM, June 8, 2024, and no one has reached back out to us after spending the entire day trying to resolve this issue.

Alamo car rental. Made 7 different calls to roadside and customer service collectively (2+ hours on the phone) about an unsafe Jeep Gladiator that has a flat spare tire which is hanging precariously close to the ground and banging around under the vehicle when turning corners.
It could fall off on the hwy and smash into another vehicle, brilliant! I was told on three occasions that a manager from the rental location would call me about the issue. I was told it was my responsibility to swap out the vehicle because they will not deliver vehicles. Initially they sent me to Enterprise nearby where I was, a mile or so.
I went and they didn't have vehicles available and even if they did they have no access to the Alamo system. I was then told that no other locations near me had vehicles. Then I was told I would have to go back to the airport to swap it out. I'm on business so going back to the airport is not feasible and more importantly a huge waste of my time when it's Alamos incompetence that I was given this vehicle in the first place.
Needless to say I've been stuck with a risky vehicle and no resolution. I simply want my money back but only a manager at the airport can handle this request and they won't call me back nor can you reach anyone at the airport as nobody picks up when I call the number customer service supplied me to call.
Once again having to do their job and call them.
Customer is last! What a world.

My complaint to them with absolutely no response. Worst place I have ever rented a car from.
You do not clarify or tell your customer up front your charges for tolls. You tell them if they return the vehicle early you will credit them, when we returned ours 1 hour early we were told we will not receive a credit but your service rep at time of check in and pick up of vehicle said if we did return an hour or more early we would. And as far as toll charges we were told nothing in advance, but was billed a 24.75 cent connivence fee on top of it which is written no where, and no receipt given for proof of toll charges? Very deceitful!
After being billed for the full amount of the vehicle on date of pick up, Alamo took the charges back? You then charged it again and kept the charge on our account a week after we returned the vehicle? You also charged the toll charges two weeks later? With no receipt given or sent to us?
Your customer service rep was very unfriendly and was given very little information when we called asking about the charges, she refused to give a number to speak to anyone higher up. Very disappointing, Im now understanding all the bad reviews Im seeing online about your company!
I will never rent Alamo again, nor will I refer anyone to you.
